A Super Saturday For The PLG Team

The PLG team had a Super Saturday, making the most of the further relaxation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, as part of Step Three of the government’s phased return of lockdown restrictions, which took effect on July 4th.

After 3 long months of observing social distance rules, it was wonderful to take time out and be able to meet up with a small gathering of friends, and finally be able to support local independent businesses. Some of the team enjoyed a beer or two at their local pub, others went out for dinner, including our MD Helen, who celebrated her birthday this weekend. All were impressed by the warm welcome they received, and how front of house, and serving staff managed to cope with the strict safety guidelines.

The most anticipated reopening was for hair salons. Long and untidy hair has been the topic of many jokes in the office during our hibernation period, especially in relation to Darren’s beard, the team were fast off the blocks with the welcome reopening of hairdressers. Due to overwhelming demand for hair appointments, not all of the team were able to get an appointment booked in, so watch this space, for our updated team photos, once all haircuts and beard trims are complete!

Businesses still affected by lockdown restrictions include theatres, casinos, bowling alleys, indoor skating rinks, gyms, swimming pools and spas, and the government have stated that although they are comfortable for the 2 meter rule to be relaxed, changes will be swiftly reversed if Covid-19 returns and infections cannot be treated to manageable proportions.

Let’s not forget that the main reason for social distancing to stay safe, save lives, and not to overwhelm the NHS. The team took part in the final Clap for Carers on Sunday to thank our wonderful NHS staff, carers, and essential care staff, not only in recognition of their efforts during the pandemic, but to mark the NHS 72nd birthday weekend. National landmarks were lit up in blue, and it was quite emotional to join our neighbours for a final doorstep clap in recognition of our wonderful NHS staff and carers.
